Brethren All:

We had a very enjoyable stated meeting last month, featuring a talk by our LEO, Rt. Wor. Marty Heaster, and Bro. Paul Evancoe’s talk on the Scottish Rite.  We also found out (to our surprise) that Springfield Lodge has been awarded the Virginia DeMolay award of Sponsoring Body of the Year!  This is the first time that Springfield Lodge has received this honor and it will be presented to us at Grand Lodge in November by the Grand Master.

At our September stated we’ll have our last Appendent Body Night, this time featuring the Shrine and Potentate Tom Little as our honored speaker.  As always, our Stewards will prepare a full meal before the meeting, so please plan to attend if within the length of your cable tow.  We have EA degrees on the 21st and 28th  for two of our candidates and we always like to have a good showing for our youngest members.  
For those Brothers who have not yet attended a Cleopatra’s Needle program, there are two opportunities in September to watch us in action (check the calendar to the right).  We‘ll also be visiting Dale City Lodge this month for a fraternal visit on the 17th.  Rounding out the month, Springfield is hosting the September DIW School on the 25th.

We’ll be wrapping up most of our Lodge physical improvements in September, and the Temple is certainly looking better than it has in some years.  Stop by and have a look!  Also, I’m looking for any final suggestions for good local nominees for our Community Builder’s Award for 2010.  Please drop me a line if you have some ideas!
