Trestleboard For May 2008

Lodge Calendar | Birthdays

From The East

Brethren:

Time flies. I hope this finds you all well. May will be a busy month for Masonry in Northern Virginia and for Springfield Lodge in particular. I ask you to support your lodge by attending or participating in as many activities as your cable-tow allows.

On our stated meeting we will present a 50 Year Veterans Award to our Brother Bennie Bough. We have a lot to thank our elder brethren for what our fraternity is today. In their youthful years, they worked in the quarries; now in their sunset years their work and wisdom is to be appreciated. We will also have three called communications for degree work. On the 13th we will raise a candidate to the sublime degree of Master Mason, on the 20th we will pass a candidate to Fellow Craft, and on the 27th we will initiate at least one new candidate. Those of you who have worked with these good brothers know their enthusiasm for the Craft is infectious. Please make every effort to attend and participate.

Brethren, your lodge needs your support. We need more members to learn parts to assist in the degree work and we are in real need of catechism coaches. If you’d like to learn a part or need to knock the rust off of one you had learned, please see Worshipful Bob Somers, our LIW and DIW. Again, every last Wednesday of the month is our District Instruction of Work School at our lodge starting at 7:30. All line officers are expected to be present and Master Mason are encouraged to attend.

Special emphasis is being given to the W. H. Wood Ritual School which is being conducted this month on the 10th. It will be held at Springfield Lodge starting at 8:00 A.M. Take advantage of this great opportunity to learn and understand the Craft. All Officers are expected to attend and participate; all Master Masons are welcome to attend this educational event. Members of District 1-B will exemplify the FC degree. Please make an effort to attend.

Thanks to RW Marty Heaster, WB John Pearson and Bro. JW Peter Terrill for a very nice presentation of Cleopatra’s Needle at Manasseh Lodge #182 on April 18.

Looking ahead, on June 7th we will honor our ladies on “Hawaiian Ladies Night” at Springfield Lodge for their unconditional understanding and support. Please bring your wife, daughters, mothers, sisters, and other ladies in your life. Attire will be Hawaiian. We will start at 6:00PM. Aloha!

Sincerely and fraternally,
Romi
